It Was Just an Accident (2025, directed by Jafar Panahi) | Ages 15+ | 103 minutes
In Iran, a man bumps into the person he believes to be his former torturer. However, the accusation is fiercely denied, and doubt sets in. What begins as a minor accident sets in motion a series of escalating consequences.
Directed by: Jahar Panahi this is one of five films nominated for the LUX Audience Award 2026. Filmed illegally in Iran, in an interview with Vanity Fair, Panahi explained, “I knew that if I took the script there, they wouldn’t give me permission to work,” so a secret network of trusted crew members was used to shoot the film discreetly.
