A trip to the hive
Jamie (happy because he won at darts) and Sam (unhappy because she lost).
Hi everyone, Jamie Cramb here! Just about a week ago me, the team (Sam, Joe and Ryan) went to The Hive in Alloa which to anyone who doesn’t know, The Hive is community youth club for young people to have somewhere to go, and it’s supported by the local football team- the Alloa Wasps. We were invited to it for a tour to learn more about it, so in this blog I will be talking about what happened at The Hive so let’s do it.
But first… let’s travel backwards through time. How did The Hive start? Well, The Hive started out as nightclub in Alloa’s town centre before it got changed into a charity youth club for local organisations to do events. Before and after Wasps games, young people in the community can go and chill in The Hive, with a young club running on Friday nights. How nice!
I was quite looking forward to seeing The Hive when I found out we were going. Also, funny story, I thought we were going the next week but it was actually the day I thought was just going to usual Thursday! Silly of me. So me, Joe went in Sam’s car to meet Ryan there and we had a blast driving to Alloa with Christmas songs playing, enjoyable conversations about a lot of things in our lives. Just a nice chill drive to Alloa. Now, I had never heard of The Hive before, while I have been to Alloa many times before and where my brother Fraser’s girlfriend Emma lived, but the only thing I thought of was Sterling Mills (which I am not a fan) but seeing something different in Alloa apart from Sterling Mills that was music to my ears.
So we got to The Hive and met the coach of The Wasps, Alex, who was a very chill guy. We talked and introduced ourselves, then Ryan showed up late (as usual). The moment we walked in I knew this was a very peaceful youth space, as there was a lot of things to do. There was pool, a little snack bar with bar stools with Alloa Wasp’s t-shirts (which looked like the clothes the bees wore in bee movie). Not only that but they had a gaming setup with FOUR PS5S……FOUR OF THEM! Holy moly. Anyways, we went upstairs and they had more games and activities to do they had a football table and Daaaaaaaaarrrrrrtttts DA DA DA DA DA! Me, Sam, and Ryan had a go and my goodness I think this was best I have ever been at darts and there is video proof of it also which was great.
After we had a tour of the building we went to a different building a few minutes away which was the community centre where we talked to the people there about what are they do in the space and what organisations are involved, which was good. We also met a guy called Nate who is in a band called Tonto (not the lone ranger character just a band named tonto). The building also had a radio bit in which Ryan was very interested in also.
The visit to The Hive was very nice and they have a very good youth space for young people in Alloa. I am very glad the young people in Alloa have this whenever it opened, and it’s nice place to make friends and have an amazing time.
This is my last blog of 2025 thanks for reading my blogs if you haven’t before. I will be back in January so I wish all of you a Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year and I will see all of you in 2026.
