Hate crime awareness campaign

Your voice matters.
Hate crime affects people from all walks of life — and tackling it starts with listening.

We’re working with a group of local volunteers to create a powerful awareness campaign for Forth Valley. Together, we're producing media, animations, posters, flyers, and hosting a community exhibition this October for Hate Crime Awareness Week.

But we want this campaign to reflect everyone’s reality — which is why we’re inviting you to share your experiences and views.

Whether you're a victim, witness, or even someone reflecting on your own actions — you have a role to play. Your insight will help us build a campaign that promotes understanding, challenges prejudice, and helps make Forth Valley safe and inclusive for all.

Please take a few minutes to complete our anonymous survey and help shape the message.

Fill in the survey and help us tackle Hate Crime in Forth Valley here.

“STIRLING PRIDE” SHOWREEL

The “Stirling Pride Showreel” was created through a series of animation workshops led by artist David Galletly. The aim was to involve young people in Stirling’s first-ever Pride event, which emerged from a collaboration between LGBT Youth Scotland and Creative Stirling through their “Lavender Lives” pilot project. During these sessions, young participants expressed a strong desire for a Pride celebration in their community, leading to the formation of a Pride Committee and the organisation of Stirling's first Pride event, set for September 21, 2024.

“DATA KNIGHT” CYBER RESILIENCE PROJECT

In January 2024, we collaborated with LGBT Youth Scotland’s Digital Team on this Cyber Security Scotland funded project up to teach LGBTQ+ young people cyber security through digital art. Instead of lectures, participants explored passwords, two-factor authentication, and device updates by creating animations with iPads, guided by artist David Galletly.

The project sparked creativity, personal growth, and new friendships, inspiring many to pursue careers in digital design. It wasn’t just about staying safe online—it was about empowerment, inclusion, and reshaping the digital world.

Over the last few years, we have been working in partnership with LGBT Youth Scotland to deliver our LGBTQIA+ projects, including Lavender Lives. LGBT Youth Scotland provides essential support, resources, and advocacy to young LGBTQIA+ individuals, helping us create inclusive spaces where voices are amplified, stories are shared, and positive change is fostered.

We have loved working in partnership with LGBT Youth Scotland and together we strive to empower youth, celebrate diversity, and build a safe, equal, future for all.

Creative Stirling played a key role in the development of Stirling Pride, which emerged from our collaboration with LGBT Youth Scotland and young people in Forth Valley. These engagement projects led to the formation of the Stirling Pride Committee in 2024, culminating in Stirling’s first official Pride on September 21, 2024.

The committee has been remarkable in rallying support for the LGBTQIA+ community, organising vibrant events, and championing equality for all. We’ve loved being part of this journey and watching Stirling Pride grow into a powerful movement.

In 2023, Creative Stirling, in collaboration with LGBT Youth Scotland and University of Stirling, set up a “Forth Valley Pride Consultation” to provide a platform for Forth Valley residents to have their say and decide if Pride celebrations should take place in their area.
